New clips from Battle: Los Angeles

The Sci-fi Guru has once again been trawling the web and his searches have yielded these two new clips for the soon to be released movie Battle: Los Angeles from the website aceshowbiz.com.
From what the Guru has seen Battle:LA looks to be the kind of movie you would expect to get if you crossed Cloverfield with Black Hawk Down(Both good movies in their own right). Which means this movie could become something pretty special.
So will Battle: LA live up to our expectations or be yet another interesting idea poorly executed like Battlefield Earth.
Battle: Los Angeles is out on general release 11th of march 2011 till then watch the clips and decide for yourself.

Outcasts given the axe

According to a report on the Guardians website the BBC Scifi drama Outcasts has been cut after yet another poor return on viewing figures.
I can't say i'm sorry to see it go, it was yet another example of poor quality script writing on behalf of the BBC.
Come on BBC it youst to be your props and special effects that let you down not the quality of your penmanship. I guess too long scripting episodes of Eastenders have eroded the abilitys of our script writing talent.
And that is the real tragedy here.

According to our source Nathan Fillion star of both Firefly and Castle would be more than up for anything new to do with ressurecting the series going so far as to say he would purchase the rights if he had the money.
And others including script writers for the series have leant their support saying they would back fillion should he decide to follow through.

Will all this succeed in bringing back Firefly? Will the brave crew of the Serenity grace our screens or atleast our pc's again?
We can only hope. Cross your fingers folks.

Tron Legacy Looking good in 3D

The Guru has recently seen the long awaited sequel to the orignal 80's classic Tron the creativly title Tron Legacy (did you see what disney did there, clever).
Since the original Tron is an undenyable Sci-fi classic and set many new standards in special effects when it was released the guru was anxious to see if this new sequel could deliver.
It not only delivers but it sets the table and waits on you as well!
The plot picked up right where the original left off and is well written and fully engrossing through out.
The soundtrack is nothing short of awesome but then it should be having been provided by Daft Punk one of the Guru's favorite artists of all time.
And what you ask of the special effects and cgi, well as expected nay demanded by the fans the trademark light cycles and recogniser's make a return looking even more shiney and awesome than before.
The rest of the effects are equally impressive in 3D with scenes so realistic (for a movie set inside your computer) the Guru found himself feeling truly a part of the movie.
One point of particular note is the almost perfect recreation of jeff bridges as the younger 80's Flynn, the CG recreation is truly the best i've ever seen.
If you haven't seen this movie yet go seek it out.
If you haven't seen the original Tron where have you been hiding?
